Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe stood before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Treasury Bond Issuance last Monday (November 20).
The premier came in full strength, with over 30 MPs and Ministers to support him.
Interestingly, soon after the incident, there were posters of PM all around which read ‘බය නැති අගමැති’ (Baya Nathi Agamathi)’ which translates to ‘Fearless Prime Minister’.
Do people get the title ‘Fearless’ just because they appear before a Commission?
This scam which is being investigated, is worth billions and its effects will echo through future generations to come.
The effects of this Bond Scam is felt already at present. The cost of living is on the rise and people are paying taxes for almost everything these days.
As each day went by in the Bond Commission, startling revelations came to light which were reported by News 1st and other media organisations alike.
Seems like both the politicians and public know what is coming up in the horizon as the Commission’s term end draw closer.
“This is very unfair. On one hand they speak of Gotabaya, on the other they are trying to take in Mahindananda. They are trying to bring in Basil and some others..”
Take notice of the names mentioned by the former President
These three have a number of allegations against them, plenty of court cases currently being heard.
Gotabhaya is seen appearing before court often, that is one.
Then recently Basil Rajapaksa had requested to change the Judge hearing one of his cases. Why? – Because he had delivered a verdict against his brother’s former Chief of Staff.
Picture this in your head;
If there was a large family of criminals, and this happened in each court case hearing…
Sri Lanka will not have enough Judges left the hear the cases against them.
Anyone knows that there is nothing to fear if you have not committed any mistake.
Sri Lanka is a beautiful country blessed with magnificent marvels of mother nature.
This Island Paradise is home to many endemic wildlife and a haven to migrant birds.
Experts now believe, that Sri Lanka is going to be a haven for something more than just ‘migrant birds’.
If you are involved in some sort of ‘Foreign Exchange Fraud’, seems like this is the perfect time to be in Sri Lanka.
Why? – according to experts, the new legislation allows money -kept in other countries, to be brought into Sri Lanka as they please.
