The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a statement saying that the Government of Sri Lanka strongly condemns Friday evening’s terrorist attack on worshipers at a mosque in the Sinai region in Egypt.
While expressing that it is inexplicably brutal to attack those at prayer, the government offered their condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery on those who are injured.
The Sri Lankan government conveyed solidarity with the Government of Egypt at this time of mourning, and urged the international community to join hands to effectively combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The death toll from the attack stands at 235.
