Robert Mugabe has refused to stand down from his position even after he was sacked as the party leader and was given 24 hours to resign or be impeached.
In a live TV address, Mugabe stated that he would preside over the ruling party’s congress in December.
According to the leader of Zimbabwe’s influential war veterans, plans for impeachment would go ahead as scheduled.
A statement regarding the general’s involvement in the military takeover will be given today, Nov 20.
