Education Ministry committee appointed to secure confidentiality of examinations

Exam paper confidentiality in Sri Lanka has been questionable in the recent times, especially on Ordinary Levels and Advanced Level.

The Minister of Education has now taken action to find a solution, by appointing a special committee.

This committee’s main task, among others, would be securing the exam confidentiality at the Department of Examinations.

Accordingly, the committee is set to look into several aspects, including;

  • Process of holding examinations
  • Answer script corrections
  • Procurement of question papers
  • Identify the council involved

The Ministry of Education has instructed to expedite the publishing the report when issuing a communique, be expedited.

Deputy Examinations Commissioner suspended

Several allegations were leveled at the Deputy Examinations Commissioner. The allegations include “failing to accomplish his responsibilities”

The letter of suspension was issued to the Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Sunil Hettiarachchi.

 

“Regardless of who is wrong, be it the ministry or the department of education, action will be taken against those responsible” – the Minister of Education, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.
