Steps have been taken in order to maintain the revised prices of essential items in the market, says The Ministry of Finance.
According to the ministry, they intend to look into whether the consumers are reaping the benefits of pre-budget compromises.
The Finance Ministry notes that attention is being focussed on the issue of how prices in the market are being maintained according to the whims of the sellers.
Futhermore, they added that adequate measures will be taken against those who create an illusion in the minds of the consumer, citing that there remains a scarcity of goods in urban areas.
Lanka Sathosa has also been advised to adhere to the revised prices of essential items.
