Prices of several Essential Food items have been reduced, said the Ministry of Finance.

The said Essential commodities are (per 1 kg);

• Dry Fish : Before – Rs. 102 tax, Now – Rs. 52 (reduced by 50 rupees)
• Potatoes: Before – Rs. 40 tax, Now – Rs. 1 (reduced by 39 rupees)
• Big Onion: Before – Rs. 40 tax, Now – Rs. 1 (reduced by 39 rupees)
• Sprats: Before – Rs. 11 tax, Now – Rs. 1 (reduced by 10 rupees)
• Lentils- Whole: Before – Rs. 10 tax, Now – Rs. 1 (reduced by 9 rupees)
• Lentils- Split: Before – Rs. 15 tax, Now – Rs. 3 (reduced by 12 rupees)
• Palm Oil / Other Veg. oil – Crude: Before – Rs. 110 tax, Now – Rs. 95 (reduced by 15 rupees)
• Palm Olen: Before – Rs. 115 tax, Now – Rs. 100 (reduced by 15 rupees)
• Refine Palm oil: Before – Rs. 135 tax, Now – Rs. 110 (reduced by 25 rupees)
• Other Veg. oil -Refine: Before – Rs. 130 tax, Now – Rs. 105 (reduced by 25 rupees)
• Palm Kernel – Crude: Before – Rs. 130 tax, Now – Rs. 105 (reduced by 25 rupees)
• Refine: Before – Rs. 140 tax, Now – Rs. 110 (reduced by 35 rupees)
• Coconut oil: Before – Rs. 130 tax, Now – Rs. 105 (reduced by 25 rupees)

The tax reductions will come into effect at midnight, tonight (November 8).
