Police uncovered a drug racket which targeted school children (Video)

The Madampe Police has successfully uncovered information on a drug racket operating in Madampe.

According to the information, the racket targets school children.

Following a tip-off, the Police inspected a three wheeler and then went on to arrest the driver and another 30 year old woman.

Why were they arrested? – the arrested woman was in possession of narcotic tablets worth over a million rupees.

Information reveald during interrogations lead to a second mission.

This mission lead to a temporary residence of the woman in custody where Police uncovered a stock of narcotic tablets worth around Rs. 2.1 million.

It was there that the Police uncovered the biggest part of the puzzle…

The racket was run by the woman under the instructions of a person living in Colombo and…. an inmate of Negombo Prison.

The stock of narcotic tablets and the two suspects are to be produced before court tomorrow (October 29).

More drug busts!

Two suspects including a Pakistani national were arrested in Wellawatta yesterday (October 27) with a stock of Heroin worth Rs. 15 million.

The arrest was carried out by Police Narcotics Bureau.

The bust discovered over 1.6 kilograms of Heroin concealed inside the Pakistani national’s bag. He had arrived in the island yesterday.
