U.S. Nimitz Carrier Strike Group arrives in Colombo

The U.S. Nimitz Carrier Strike Group has arrived in Colombo for a planned port visit.

This is the first time that a U.S. aircraft carrier arrived in Sri Lanka since 1985.

The Carrier Strike Group includes the USS Nimitz, cruiser USS Princeton and destroyers USS Howard, USS Shoup, USS Pinckney and USS Kidd.

The ships are scheduled to depart Colombo on October 31.
