Former Navy Commander Vice Admiral Sinniah promoted

Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah, who was serving as the Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, has been promoted to the rank of Admiral.

The Sri Lanka Navy said, the promotion of Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah to the rank of Admiral by President Maithripala Sirisena came into effect yesterday.

After serving the Sri Lanka Navy for close to 35 years, Admiral Travis Sinniah is scheduled to retire from the forces today.

He will be succeeded by Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, who became the 22nd Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.
