One of Russia’s top radio presenters has had surgery after being stabbed in the neck by a man who broke into her newsroom at broadcaster Ekho Moskvy.

The victim, Tatyana Felgengauer, has been hospitalised but her life is not in danger, the station said.

The knifeman reportedly sprayed a gas into the face of a security guard as he broke in.

Right after stabbing, the man was held by colleagues and later arrested.

Broadcaster Ekho Moskvy is owned by a media holding ultimately controlled by state-owned gas giant Gazprom. It does however, give air time to journalists and commentators who are fiercely critical of the Kremlin and its allies.
