The Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Professor Lakshman Dissanayake, says a special investigation has been launched to look into the clash that broke out between two student groups of the Faculty of Arts at the university.
Professor Dissanayake added that it was decided to shut down the Faculty of Arts at the Colombo University, indefinitely, following the clash.
Following the decision taken to indefinitely shut down the faculty, another clash broke out at a student hostel in Borella, following which two students were injured and hospitalised.
The vice chancellor added that the University Council will decide on the future course of action after assessing the report compiled by the investigators.
