The Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government says a decision has been reached to establish six new Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Nuwara Eliya District.

This decision has been reached based on the recommendations of a committee headed by the Secretary to the Central Province. An extensive discussion was held in this regard yesterday, between subject minister Faiszer Musthapha, Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya, and Central Province Local Government representatives.

The area which comes under the purview of the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha will be sub-divided in three.

The area will now come under Ambagamuwa, Norwood and Maskeliya Pradeshiya Sabhas.

The Nuwara Eliya Pradeshiya Sabha division will be sub-divided into three areas, and will now come under the purview of Nuwara Eliya, Agarapathana and Kotawila Pradeshiya Sabhas.
