The Department of Irrigation says that the areas of Panadugama, Millakanda and Baddegama that are in close proximity of the Nilwala, Kalu and Gin Rivers continue to be at minor flood levels.

According to the Director of the Department of Hydrology, Prema Hettiarachchi, low lands in the areas of Panadugama Millakanda and Baddegama are currently under water.

Further, the landslide warnings issued to six districts by the National Building Research Organisation is still in effect.

Meanwhile, the Road Development Authority has requested motorists travelling along expressways and highways to stay within the speed limit of 60 kmph.

Meanwhile, the Department of Metereology says that, due the disturbance in the Bay of Bengal, sea areas to the North-east of the country has developed into a low pressure area. However, it is likely to develop in to a depression and move away from the country. Cloudy conditions are expected to continue further and fairly strong winds can be expected over the country and surrounding sea areas during next few days.
Showers or thundershowers are also expected in Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces from time to time.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Northwestern, Northcentral and Northern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy falls (about 50-75 mm) can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces.

There may be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activity.
