The Met Department warns of heavy showers, strong winds and rough seas for the next 24 hours. Due to low level atmospheric disturbance in the Northern sea areas,the Met Department says that  intermittent showers or thundershowers are expected in the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Trincomalee via Kankesanthurai,

Temporary strong, gusty winds of up to 70-80 kmph and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regards.

The Met Department further noted that prevailing showery and cloudy conditions are expected to continue during the next few days.Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Northern Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
