MP Namal Rajapaksa and five other public representatives have been arrested.

They were arrested on charges of defying a court order by staging a demonstration in Hambantota on October 6.

MP Rajapaksa and four others were informed to appear before Hambantota Police today October 10, to record a statement.

They were arrested around 7.30 pm today after the statement was recorded

The others include;

• D.V. Chanaka
• Prasanna Ranaweera
• Provincial Councillor Upali Kodikara
• Provincial Councillor Ajith Prasanna

They are scheduled to be produced before court, said Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara.
