It is being reported that a public health inspector died in Hingurakgoda as a result of strikes conducted by the GMOA and the CEB.

Relatives of the PHI say that the 56-year-old was admitted to the Hingurakgoda Divisional Hospital after suffering a heart attack on Thursday evening.

They had then been advised to transfer him to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital.

However, the patient died en route to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital.

Convening a media briefing this evening, the Joint Trade Union of the Ceylon Electricity Board said the PHI died as a result of the strike actions.
