Patients have been severely inconvenienced as a result of the countrywide token strike that is being carried out by the Government Medical Officer’s Association (GMOA).The GMOA has launched the strike action against the private medical university, SAITM.
The GMOA strike is in effect on Thursday in the districts of Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Kandy, Ratnapura and Galle. The token strike that was launched on September 12, was carried out in Vavuniya, Matale, Ampara, Badulla, Monaragala and Matara districts on Wednesday.
As a result of the strike, patients who visited government hospitals in these districts had to return home without receiving treatment.Several civil societies have condemned the strike action launched by the GMOA.
