President Maithripala Sirisena, on Tuesday morning, inspected the construction of the Lotus Tower and the Defence Headquarters. The Head of State inspected the progress of the project and instructed officials to consult the relevant parties for any shortcomings in the project.
Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake and several other senior officials of the Sri Lanka Army were present during the inspection tour.
President Sirisena also inspected the construction work of the Lotus Tower which is considered the tallest building in Sri Lanka.
The multifunctional tower, with a proposed height of 350 metres, will consist of a luxury shopping complex, restaurants and an observation arena.
The construction activities of the tower will be completed in March 2018.
