Taylor Swift‘s new single, “Look What You Made Me Do” is setting records left and right. The song itself, as well as its lyric video and music video, have broken Spotify streaming and YouTube watch records.
Spotify said Saturday it had logged more than 8 million same-day streams for her new single, “Look What You Made Me Do.”
The 27-year-old singer dropped the much-anticipated song late Thursday to streaming platforms and iTunes.
It received 43.2 million views in 24 hours, smashing the record set by Psy, whose video for Gentleman was watched 38 million times in one day in 2013. She also overtook Adele’s Hello as the most-watched video on day of release.
As Swift sped ahead of Psy’s tally, her director Joseph Kahn celebrated on Twitter, telling fans “you are all amazing”.
39 million youtube views in 24 hours. World record. YOU DID IT. You are all amazing. THANK YOU!#LWYMMDvideo https://t.co/CtJKWQcNo0
