School student and brother stabbed in Grandpass, Colombo

A school student and another youth have been stabbed with the use of a sharp weapon near an eatery in Grandpass, Colombo.

Police say that an argument broke out between two groups of youth at the location at around 8.30 on the night of Saturday, August 26.

The elder brother (24) of the school student (19) had arrived at the scene during the  argument. The student and his brother were stabbed by the other group shortly after.

The two brothers are currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.

Suspects identified

Police have identified the suspects involved in the incident. However, they are yet to receive information on their permanent addresses.Meanwhile the three-wheeler used by the suspected group has been seized.

While investigations have revealed that a school-based dispute initiated the fight. Police have also recovered fingerprints of the suspects. The injured school student is a candidate for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination this year.
