President Maithripala Sirisena has provided Rs. 45 million for the renovation of the Golden Canopy  at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

The move follows a request made by the Mahanayakes of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters of the Siam Sect and the Diyawadana Nilame.

The Presidential Secretariat allocated the said funds, and were presented to the District Secretary of Kandy. The renovation process will be done following consultations on technical matters.
