Although showers were experienced in Anuradhapura during the past few days, it has not ended the suffering of the farmers in the area. Farmers lament that the rainfall experienced is insufficient for farming purposes and other domestic needs.
The rainfall experienced at certain areas in Anuradhapura was inadequate to set the livelihood of the people in the area back on track after a drought that devastated farmlands.
Residents of Thanthirimale, Vilachchiya, Navodhagama, Thupitiyawa and Sadamaleliya continue to be affected by the prevailing drought conditions.
