A suspected unexploded bomb has been found at the site of the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan.

The almost three foot long suspected bomb is believed to be an unexploded device dropped by the US at the height of WW2.

The bomb was discovered by workers constructing a parking lot close to the facility’s reactors, a spokesman for Fukushima operator Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said.

Building work has now been halted as police cordon off a one kilometre area around the site.

The incident at the Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) site was the world’s most serious nuclear accident since Chernobyl in 1986.
