Cabinet approval has been granted to raise the minimum fine for a number of traffic offences to Rs. 25,000.

This move was revealed at the cabinet media briefing held on Thursday morning.

Thereby, a fine of Rs. 25,000 would be imposed if a motorist is found driving without a licence or insurance or even under the influence of alcohol and other noxious drugs.
