The Joint Opposition says a no-confidence motion against Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ravi Karunanayake, has been submitted.

Parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardane said the no-confidence motion has been submitted with the signatures of 32 members of parliament. He further noted that the no-confidence motion was submitted to the Parliament Chief of Staff Neil Iddawela on Thursday evening. When Newsfirst made inquiries, Neil Iddawela confirmed the submission.

The motion states that parliament has lost it’s confidence in Minister Ravi Karunanayake for the violation of the Money Laundering Act and Financial Transactions Reporting Act, actively contributing to safeguard Arjun Aloysius, enjoying unjust enrichment and taking part in large financial transactions.

MP’s of the Joint Opposition proposes the immediate resignation of Ravi Karunanayake from all ministerial portfolios as his continuity as a minister would be harmful to the credibility of the national economy.
