President Sirisena presents “royal gift” from Russia to National Museum – preserved as a national heritage

The royal sword or Kastane, which President Maithripala Sirisena received as a gift during his recent to visit to Russia, was presented to the National Museum today.

The artifact was gifted to President Sirisena by Russian President Vladimir Putin as a token of appreciation to symbolise the close relationship between the two countries.

The sword was presented to the National Museum at a ceremony today, with the objective of declaring it a national heritage.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of the President and was attended by several public representatives.

Meanwhile, the awarding of certificates of the fifth batch of the Diploma Course on Media Studies and Journalism conducted by the Sri Lanka Press Council was held under the patronage of the President at the BMICH.
