Prevailing heaty weather conditions will persist until early next month, the Met Department.
The department said, current tempratures are around 3 degrees celcius higher than normal.
Director of the Met department Athula Karunanayake said these tempratures were even higher in the dry zones.
Speaking to News1st, Dr. Deepal Perera advised that people could prevent the harmful effects of the hot and humid conditions by increasing their intake of water – particularly for children and the elderly.
