The final rites of late most venerable Dawuldena Sri Gnanissara Thero are set to take place on Thursday, April 6.
The remains of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Sect Chief Prelate are currently placed at the Sri Vidya Vijayaramaya, Nugegoda.
Dignitaries, including religious leaders and parliamentarians, visited the Vidya Vijayaramaya, on Tuesday night, to pay their last respects to the thero.
Meanwhile, the government has requested all citizens to display a ‘yellow coloured flag’ outside all residences and commercial premises in a show of respect
The final rites will be held at the Independence Square under full state honours
Most Venerable Dawuldena Sri Gnanissara Thero passed away on the morning of Monday April 3, while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
He was 103 years of age at the time of his demise.
