The case filed against State Minister A. H. M. Fowzie for misusing a vehicle belonging to the Disaster Management Centre, while he was the subject minister was taken up today, April 05.
The case was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe Bandara.
The case was filed against A. H. M. Fowzie by the Bribery Commission for the misuse of a SUV worth Rs. 20 million, provided through Dutch funds from 2010 to 2015 and causing and unlawful loss to the government.
President’s Counsel Shavendra Fernando who appeared on behalf of the defendant, filing a primary objection, pointed out that the case has been filed in violation of the provisions of the law.
Court informed that a decision on the objection filed by the counsel will be delivered on May 05.
