At least ten killed in St Petersburg metro explosions

According to a Russian media report, an explosion has hit an underground station in the city of St Petersburg.

At least ten people are reported dead in blasts at two metro stations in Russia’s second city of Saint Petersburg.

The explosions, one of which occurred in the Sennaya Ploshchad metro station, also injured about fifty people, media reports said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is due to visit the city on Monday, confirmed there are dead and injured.

He expressed his condolences and said he had spoken to the heads of the security services, who are trying to establish the cause.
