Official discussions on the Indo-Lanka fisheries issue are set to begin on April 7.
Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development W. M. M. R Adikari said, representatives of the Ministry of Fisheries of both countries will participate in the rounds of discussions.
The discussions will also see the participation of the officers attached to the Navy and Coastguards of both countries.
Thus far, 38 Indian fishermen are in Sri Lankan custody; there are no Sri Lankan fishermen in Indian Custody.The Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries says there are no plans to release the Indian fishing trawlers either.
