The Department of Wildlife says that steps will be taken to recruit 500 new officers for all duties carried out by the department, including that of chasing away wild elephants.

Director General of the Wildlife Department W.S.K Pathirana said that all recruitments will be carried out through the National Salaries and Cadre Commission, and will be finalised once the approval of the treasury has been received.
