Sri Lanka has been given two more years to fulfill its commitments towards achieving reconciliation, accountability and human rights.

The new UNHRC resolution calls for the implementation of the outstanding recommendations laid out by the Commissioner of the UN Human Rights Council in 2015.

The newly passed resolution encourages the continuation of the engagement Sri Lanka has with the UN Human Rights Council, its Commissioner and other related bodies.

The resolution concludes by saying that a written update should be provided at the 37th Session of the UNHRC and that a comprehensive report on the implementation of Council resolution 30/1, should be presented at the 40th session of the UNHRC.
