At least 18 people have been killed and 30 others injured after a tree fell on them at Kintampo waterfalls in central Ghana during a storm on Sunday.
Sources say that a group of students were on a field trip to the Kintampo falls and were bathing at the base of the waterfall when a large tree was shaken loose by the storm and fell on them.
Sources from the Ghana National Fire Service said 18 bodies had been recovered and an additional 30 people were transferred to nearby hospitals with injuries.
The Minister of Tourism for Ghana has assured of her ministry’s collaboration with security agencies to ensure the victims of the tragic Kintampo Falls accident are supported by government.
