Sri Lankan Airlines: The cancellation of the deal to purchase aircraft sparked a heated debate in Parliament.

Heat kept on mounting on subject minister Kabir Hashim over not knowing what is going on in his own Ministry and outsiders calling the shots, leaving Minister Hashim in the dark.

Mahindananda Aluthgamage was a man on a mission – continuously calling out Kabir Hashim on the matter,

Aluthgamage pointed out that, when this deal was made;

> The subject minister was unaware
> The secretary to the ministry was not aware
> Three letters by the secretary were disregarded
> The Attorney General’s advice was not sought

“You are the general secretary of the UNP and the subject minister, but they disregarded you when this deal was being formulated.” said Aluthgamage.

He also pointed out how Minister Hashim was informed after SriLankan Airlines signed a deal with ‘Aircab’ and also paid two installments. All without anyone providing approval.
