The Attorney General’s Department said the legal framework of the Presidential Commission to be appointed to investigate the Central Bank bond issue will be presented to President Maithripala Sirisena this week.
The legal framework is to formulated based on recommendations made by the head of state.
Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya said that accordingly, the required legal authority will be prepared in order for the Commission to be able to carry out investigations into the matter.
He added that the number of members of the Commission and the fields they represent will not be determined by his department.
The Attorney General also said, the COPE report on the Central Bank bond issue was submitted by the Speaker of Parliament to his Department on January 26.
