The fourth Ministerial Consultation of Abu Dhabi Dialogue was held on January 24, with the participation of local and international delegates.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who participated at the event, commented on the initiatives taken by Sri Lanka to upgrade the living conditions of estate workers.

Minister of Social Affairs and Labour and Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Kuwait, Hind Subaih Barak Al- Subaih, Director General of International Organisation for Migration William Lacy Swing, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara were also present.

At the event, the Prime Minister said that all the welfare services run by the plantations are made state-owned factions and that initiatives are being taken to upgrade the science teaching in the areas which estate workers have settled down – as the access of science for students is limited. And secondly to provide seven perches of land to each of them as they do not have an inch of land owned by them.

At the event the Minister for Foreign Employment Thalatha Athukorala was appointed as the next Chair-in-office for next two years.
