The Disaster Management Centre says that more than 260,000 families from seven provinces of the country are affected as a result of the prevailing dry weather conditions.

The Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts of the Eastern Province are the worst affected from the drought conditions.

More than 355,000 people from 75,497 families have been affected in the Eastern Province as a result of the dry weather conditions while 13,367 people have been affected in the districts of Gampaha and Kalutara.
