The Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division inspected the D.A. Rajapaksa Museum and the surrounding area today.
The location was inspected by officers of the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division and a group of valuation officials, to obtain a final valuation report.
The inspection was carried out in relation to an ongoing investigation over the alleged expenditure of Rs.90 million for the renovation of the tombstones of D.A. Rajapaksa, and his wife, and the construction of a museum, under a project which was named ‘Weeraketiya Scheme’.
Investigations have revealed that funds of the Land Reclamation and Development Corporation which was under the purview of the Ministry of Defense during the tenure of Gotabaya Rajapaksa as Defence Secretary, had been deposited to the Rajapaksa Foundation for this purpose.
Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appeared before the FCID on several prior occasions, to provide statements with regards to this matter.
