Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera met with Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland at the Marlborough House in London recently.
During the meeting, Minister Mangala Samaraweera has expressed hope that the Commonwealth would continue to fight for values such as human rights, rule of law and democracy that have strengthened Sri Lanka.
The duo had also spoken on the efforts of the current government to bring in a new constitution, with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth noting that they are “delighted” to provide technical assistance to ensure that the minority communities in the country “feel represented.”
Commonwealth Secretary General, Patricia Scotland had also noted that it is more economical to work together in order to share best practices and pool knowledge in such endeavours.
