The 48-hour token strike launched by the postal employees is still ongoing.
Co-Convenor of the Joint Postal Trade Unions Front Chinthaka Bandara said that the around 20,000 employees have joined the strike action.
The Postal Trade Unions launched the 48-hour token strike on Tuesday, December 20, requesting for solutions to several problems with regard to the recruitment and promotions.
Postal services were hampered in several areas of the country today, December 21, as well, as a result of the strike. The strike action is expected to come to an end at midnight.
