Work on another project under the second phase of the Gammadda movement 100 day initiative, commenced on Thursday.
The people of Kosinna, Mirigama obtained water for years on end, by drawing water from holes they dug up.
This move had resulted in many contracting various diseases.
The people of the village will be provided with clean drinking water following the completion of the water project established under the second phase of the Gammadda movement 100 Day initiative.
The people of the village who were left disappointed after turning to the politicians for assistance, joined the opening ceremony with much enthusiasm .
Financial assistance for the project was provided by Senior Lecturer at the Kelania University Prof. Ven. Dewalaegama Medhananda Thero.
Three weeks from now, thirty families will reap the benefits of the water project.
Meanwhile, a maritime light tower which was built for the fisher community of the Matara Thotumuwa fisheries harbour, will be declared open at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
