Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Sport Resort Island Development Project, Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka commented on protests and demonstrations staged by various groups.

He said, they have taken measures to build a transport centre with special facilities in Battaramulla next year (2017) and that certain people are attempting to use Battaramulla as a key area for protests and demonstrations which has caused many difficulties to the administrative activities in the area. No one can oppose protests in a democratic country.

He went on to note that the process of good governance does not mean bad management and that it is not lawlessness or lack of authority that the public expects from Yahapalanaya.

“We all should keep in mind that there needs to be a limit to all these protests and anti democratic activities”, he added.
