A media briefing was held at the Ministry of Professional Development and Vocational Training regarding the NVQ level 3 and 4 qualifications.

The briefing centred around the NVQ level 3 and four qualifications being equivalent to the G.C.E. Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations.

Minister of Professional Development and Vocational Training Mahinda Samarasinghe said, the Ministry of Professional Development and Vocational Training was able to launch a revolution and that for the first time in history, the government is officially accepting the NVQ certification.

He went on to note that the NVQ 3 is equivalent to the G.C.E Ordinary Level examination, while the NVQ 4 is equivalent to the G.C.E Advanced Level examination, a move which was based on the approval of the Cabinet based on the monitoring process carried out by the Ministry of Finance.

“I need to clearly mention here that when you look at the monitoring process of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry says that the proposals we presented are highly valuable”, he added.
