Train services along the Northern railway line have been disrupted owing to the derailment of the Uththara Devi express train, plying from Colombo Fort to Jaffna, at the Thambuththegama railway station on Thursday evening.

The Railway Control Room said steps are being taken to re-rail the train back on its tracks.

The Thambuththegama Railway Station was damaged  due to the derailing of five compartments of the train together with the engine compartment
