A number of cases were postponed due to a delay in receiving the Attorney General’s advice.
Minister Palani Digambaram and Provincial Councilor Senthil Thondaman appeared before the Hatton Magistrate court today, Monday, November 21.
The case pertaining to an assault on a vehicle being used by Palani Digambaram, during the 2013 Provincial Council Elections was taken up for consideration today.
The assault was allegedly launched by Senthil Thondaman and his supporters.
Even though submissions were made by both parties to High Court Judge Prasad Liyanage, the case was postponed till April 3 of next year due to the absence of AG’s advice in this regard.
The case against five persons including Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigama with regard to the fire that erupted at a campaign stage in the Wanduraba area during the previous presidential elections, was postponed to January 9 next year, in the backdrop of AG’s advice not been provided.
The case pertaining to the Rs.10 million letter of demand which was filed at the Colombo Commercial Court by General Secretary of JVP Tilvin Silva against MP Wimal Weerawansa was examined today.
The case was filed by leader of JVP Tilvin Silva citing that issuing of the book titled Naththa Wenuwata Aththa was a breach of laws pertaining to intellectual property.
Court ordered for evidence in connection to the case be presented on March 10 and 15 next year.
