Former minister Professor Rajiva Wijesingha says that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe should resign from his position due to his connection to the Central Bank Bond Scam.

He noted that he clung to his position and became Prime Minister for the umpteenth time on the coat tails of Maithripala Sirisena.

” Unfortunately, he then thought that he could control MS. It is very very sad indeed, because the country did not vote for Ranil Wickremesinghe…” said Prof. Rajiva Wijesingha.

Professor Wijesinha went on to note that Arjuna Mahendran made it very clear to COPE that he had acted entirely on the instructions of the Prime Minister – and in any global democracy the Prime Minister must go.

He added that the prime minister should resign and must give way for a prime minister who has the confidence of the country.
