A group of employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board engaged in a protest on the second floor of the head office of the CEB demanding promotions.
The group commenced their protest in the corridor of the CEB head office on Friday. They are unable to come down as the building has been locked down while the protest was ongoing.
They charge that even though they are qualified for the post of office clerk, employees have been recruited through manpower agencies for the same job.
Speaking to News1st, the Minister of Power and Renewable energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya stated that a committee has been appointed to look into the issue surrounding promotions.
