The National Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Awards – 2016 was held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre on the evening of Friday October 14.
The award ceremony organised by the Ministry of Labour and Trade Union Relations was graced by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The minister and the state minister of the Ministry of Labour were also present at the event.
Speaking at the event, the prime minister noted that most of our investments have been in infrastructure that is nearest of our development, but now we have to turn around and start exporting.
He also added that we are relying on a two prompt strategy on getting direct foreign investment into this country, and the centerpiece of that is going to be the short term, the Hambantota development programme, where with the harbour and the airport both becoming public private partnershipsp initially adding that they hope that there will be investment from China that will come in for export.
