The Uva Provincial Department of Education has decided to temporarily close four schools in Badulla, on Tuesday and Wednesday, owing to the smoke covering the area due to a fire that erupted on Monday.

Secretary of the Department, Sandya Rajapaksha Abanwala said that the three schools are Badulla Viharamaha devi vidyalaya, Al Adaan Muslim School and Dharmadutha Maha Vidyalaya.

Meanwhile, police said that two children have been admitted to hospital after falling ill and that one of them is receiving in-house treatment.
